The girl who studied at night

She grew up in a home where going to college was not a given. Her mother, an administrator, was the one who insisted: “Let the girl study.” At eleven she was already looking for ways to work.

A bank, by chance

After high school she joined a training program that placed young people in companies. She was assigned to a bank. There she saw, for the first time, how money moves from the inside.

“The first time taxes changed my life, I was sixteen and didn't even know what they were.”

From intern to vice president

Business advisor, executive, manager, regional manager. As she moved up, she studied at night: Public Accounting, Financial Management and a master's in Finance. Before thirty she had one hundred twenty people under her responsibility.

That is where she learned the lesson she applies to everything today: numbers win arguments.

Starting from zero

She arrived in Miami without speaking English, with her two children, her mother and her sister. She signed up for every delivery app that existed, because it was the job that let her study English at the same time.

“I'm the one arriving in this country. The country isn't going to adapt to me.”

An envelope from the IRS

She paid someone to prepare her first taxes in this country, and months later a letter from the IRS arrived. The person who prepared them did not resolve it. Ani took a four-day course, prepared her papers the way she prepared files at the bank and went in person to the IRS office to resolve it herself.

People started talking

A fellow delivery driver asked her to do his. The first year, thirty people trusted her. The second, two hundred, without a single ad.

“People don't recommend what's good. They recommend what made them feel a specific way.”

A door that could close

In the middle of the pandemic, when everyone told her no, she opened her first office in Doral. Not as a luxury: because no one tells the truth about their numbers in a coffee shop with a table half a meter away.
